STOPIT carbon composite flat patch kit, 100 × 100 mm, for small leaks: the maker’s pressure rating, return to service, shelf life and dispensing gun.
What it is
IMPA 812465 is a STOPIT flat patch leak-sealing kit, 4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm). InduMar, which sells the Stop It range, describes its Flat Patch as a carbon-epoxy composite repair: a preformed carbon sheet bonded with adhesives. It is for sealing actively leaking defects where a localised repair is needed or a full pipe wrap is impractical, such as flat tank surfaces.[1]
The 6 × 6 in (150 × 150 mm) kit is 812470. Choose the size that covers the defect.
How to specify and order it
Order by the SET. Measure the defect before choosing the size. InduMar rates its current Flat Patch kit for working pressures up to 1,000 psi (70 kg/cm²), with a 4:1 safety margin. It says return to service at pressure may take about 2 hours above 75 °F (24 °C), and longer at lower temperatures.[1]
InduMar’s current Flat Patch kit is 8 × 8 in, so ask the supplier which maker’s kit and which version is offered against this code, and ask for its data sheet.[1]
InduMar sells two-part dispensing guns separately from its kits, and lists a 600 ml dual-component gun (DG600M) for the current Flat Patch kit. IMPA’s dispensing gun for leak sealant kits, 812476, is 200 ml. Ask the supplier which gun the kit offered needs, and order it in the same requisition if the ship has none.[1]
InduMar gives a shelf life of 12 months at 75 °F (24 °C) for both adhesive parts, with storage at 32–100 °F (0–38 °C). Ask for the expiry date on delivery, and replace the kit when it expires.[1]
