Leak Sealant Kit STOPIT Flat Patch

Leak Sealant Kit STOPIT Flat Patch is a group of 2 IMPA-coded items (codes 812465–812470) under Emergency Repair Patch & Tape in the Packing & Jointing section (IMPA 81). All of them are priced per set. The list runs through 2 metric sizes from 100 mm to 150 mm.

Buying guide

The STOPIT flat patch is a carbon-fibre composite leak repair kit. It is applied as a patch over a local defect where a full pipe wrap is impractical. Listed uses are tanks, vessels, large-diameter pipes, valve and pump casings and welded seams. The group lists two patch sizes, 4 × 4 in (100 × 100 mm) and 6 × 6 in (150 × 150 mm), each supplied as a kit with the components for field installation.[1]

Engineers keep it in the emergency repair stock to stop a pinhole, a corroded spot or a weeping seam until a proper repair can be made at the next opportunity. It sits beside the wrap-type pipe repair tapes, repair clamps and the high-pressure STOPIT HP kit in the neighbouring groups.

How to specify it

Choose the patch size to cover the defect with a margin of sound metal around it, and order spares of both sizes if the stock is for emergencies. The supplier listing rates the system to restore operation up to 1,000 psi (about 69 bar). Operation may resume in as little as 4 hours after application, curing at ambient temperature. For higher pressures, look at the separate STOPIT HP group.[1]

Mind the shelf life: 6 months from purchase when stored at 5–28 °C (40–83 °F). Order close to need, ask for the expiry date on delivery, and do not stow the kits in a hot space.[1]

Questions buyers ask

How long does a STOPIT flat patch take before the system can be used?
The listing says operation may resume in as little as 4 hours after application, curing under ambient conditions.
How long can I keep a flat patch kit on board?
Six months from purchase when stored between 5 and 28 °C. It is a consumable with a short life, so do not over-stock it.
