Measuring Tools

Measuring tools are the instruments of the engine room and the survey: vernier and dial calipers, micrometers, feeler and thread gauges, steel rules and tapes, spirit levels, thermometers, pressure and vacuum gauges, and the ullage and sounding tapes used for tanks. The chief engineer raises the workshop instruments, the chief officer the cargo and tank measures.

Range, resolution and connection (for gauges) are in the description; state a calibration certificate on the requirement if the ship’s system requires one.
