Safety Equipment

Safety equipment is the SOLAS section: fire extinguishers and their refills, fire hoses, nozzles and couplings, breathing apparatus and spare cylinders, emergency escape sets, lifejackets and immersion suits, liferaft and lifeboat spares, gas detectors and their sensors, pyrotechnics, and the signage and stowage that goes with them. It is raised by the chief officer against the ship’s safety plan, and most of it has a service or expiry date that drives the order.

Certificates and approvals matter here more than anywhere: state the approval required (SOLAS, MED wheelmark, USCG) and the expiry you need, and suppliers bid to it.
