What it is
IMPA 351706 is a 2 in cam and groove (camlock) Type A adapter in aluminium alloy, with a female thread. It screws onto a 2 in threaded pipe end, pump or valve and gives a male camlock end for a 2 in coupler. The brass and stainless steel versions of the same size are 351720 and 351736.
Seal Fast, for example, makes this fitting as its A200AL: a 2 in Type A, female NPT × male adapter, in 356-T6 aluminium. Its specification sheet rates the 2 in size at 150 psi.[1]
How to specify and order it
State the working pressure the line needs, not just "2 in Type A", and check it against the rating of the fitting offered. Give the thread form of the pipe it screws onto as well, BSP or NPT.[1]
Order the mating parts in the same size. The 2 in aluminium couplers are D (female thread) 351806, B (male thread) 351856 and C (hose shank) 352005. The dust cap is 352055. A spare gasket for the coupler is Buna-N 50 mm, 352106, or PTFE 2 in, 352116, depending on the fluid. Do not mix 2 in and 2-1/2 in (351707); they do not mate.
Rules and approvals
Seal Fast’s specification sheet warns that cam and groove couplings should not be used with any compressed gas, including steam or air. Keep these adapters on liquid service such as water, fuel and oil transfer, and use the couplings made for air and steam on those lines.[1]
Questions buyers ask
- What pressure is a 2 inch aluminium camlock rated for?
- It depends on the maker. Seal Fast, for example, rates its 2 in aluminium Type A (A200AL) at 150 psi. State the pressure you need.
- Can camlock couplings be used on compressed air?
- No. Seal Fast warns that cam and groove couplings should not be used with any compressed gas, including steam or air.
