HANDRAIL STANCHION&SOCKET FOR, STEEL WHARF LADDER WITH DETAIL 232072

Steel handrail stanchion and socket set for a steel wharf ladder: the ladder it belongs to, the details to send with the order, and the inspection rules.

What it is

IMPA 232072 is one set of handrail stanchion and socket for a steel wharf ladder, ordered with detail. The stanchion holds the hand rope along the side of the ladder, and the socket on the ladder takes it.

The Japanese standard for steel wharf ladders is JIS F 2612, Steel wharf ladders (1995 edition in the JSTRA list).[1]

How to specify and order it

The code is an open one, so send the detail with the requisition: the stanchion length, measured on a sound stanchion of the same ladder, the number of sets, and a sketch or photo of the socket and how it is fixed to the ladder. Name the ladder (steel, and its standard or maker if known) so the supplier can match the stanchion and socket.

Rules and approvals

MSC.1/Circ.1331/Rev.1, the IMO guidelines for means of embarkation and disembarkation, says bent stanchions should be replaced or repaired and guard ropes inspected for wear and renewed where necessary. At the annual survey, the fittings for access to deck, such as handholds and stanchions, should be examined for satisfactory condition.[2]
