JIS Pressure Gauge & Stop Valves
Stop Valves Marine Brass 30kgf/cm2 F-7379
Stop Valves Marine Brass 30kgf/cm2 F-7379 is a group of 9 IMPA-coded items (codes 750776–750788) under JIS Pressure Gauge & Stop Valves in the Valves & Cocks section (IMPA 75). All of them are priced per piece. Every item in the list is brass. The list runs through 3 metric sizes from 4 mm to 10 mm.
Buying guide
These are small brass stop valves to JIS F 7379, the Japanese shipbuilding standard for brass 30K stop valves with bite joints. The standard covers them mainly for the ship’s instrument piping in copper tube. The catalogue files them under pressure gauge stop valves. The bite joint is a sleeve and union nut that grip the tube.[1]
The group follows the standard’s three types, each in 4, 6 and 10 mm sizes. The globe valve has bite joints at both ends. The globe valve and the angle valve each have a bite joint at one end and a screwed end at the other. The engineers order them when a gauge valve leaks or will not shut, or when a gauge line is renewed.[1]
How to specify it
Give the type (double bite-joint globe, bite × screwed globe, or bite × screwed angle) and the nominal size (4, 6 or 10). The standard ties each nominal size to the outside diameter of the copper tube it takes, so check the tube on board. The standard designates a valve by name, type and nominal size, and allows the standard number in place of the name. The valve body is marked with the nominal pressure and size (for example "30K-4"), a flow-direction arrow, the maker and the date of manufacture. Read those off the old valve.[1]
For the screwed types, check the thread on the gauge or fitting: the standard puts a taper pipe thread to JIS B 0203 on the screwed end. The union part follows JIS F 7435 (brass 30K bite-type unions). If spare sleeves or nuts are needed, order them to that standard and the tube size.[1]
Rules and certificates
JIS F 7379 rates these valves for liquid at 80 °C or below without pulsation, so check the line’s service against that. Body, stem and nuts are brass bar to JIS H 3250, and the O-ring is nitrile rubber.[1]
Each valve is inspected under JIS F 7400, the general inspection rules for ship valves and cocks: material, appearance, dimensions, assembly and a hydrostatic test. The seat leak test is at 3.3 MPa and the body test at 4.5 MPa. Ask for the inspection record if the ship’s system needs one.[1]
Questions buyers ask
- What does 30K mean on a JIS valve?
- It is the nominal pressure class marked on the body, as in "30K-4" for a 30K valve of nominal size 4. JIS F 7379 tests these valves at 3.3 MPa on the seat and 4.5 MPa on the body.
- What is a bite joint?
- A compression-type tube joint: a sleeve bites into the copper tube as the union nut is tightened. JIS F 7379 valves use it on one or both ends, with the union to JIS F 7435.
