Rope & Hawsers

Rope and hawsers holds the ship to the berth and to the tug: mooring lines and hawsers in polypropylene, polyester, nylon and mixed constructions; steel wire rope in its standard lays and cores; and the small stuff — cordage, marline, twine, heaving lines. The chief officer or bosun raises it, and for mooring lines and wires the requisition usually names a required breaking load and a test certificate.

Wire rope is quoted per coil or per metre, fibre rope per coil or per length. State diameter, length, construction and whether a certificate is required; suppliers bid against exactly that.
