ADHESIVE ONE-COMPONET WEICON, SILICONE HT 300 RED 310ML 815283
WEICON Silicone HT 300 red: -40 to +280 °C, briefly +300 °C, acetoxy-curing, 8 min skin-over. Pack sizes, oil and fuel limits, how to order 815283.
What it is
IMPA 815283 is WEICON Silicone HT 300, the red high-temperature silicone adhesive and sealant, in the large pack. The maker describes it as a one-component polysiloxane that cures with moisture from the air and is acetoxy-curing (acetate). It is free of solvents and stays elastic, with an elongation at break of about 300%.[1]
It is made for heat-exposed bonds and seals and adheres to steel, aluminium, glass, ceramics and many other materials. The maker names industrial furnaces, flue gas systems, heating installations, exhaust gas routing and heating cabinets. Keep it to hot joints and seals; it is not for fuel or oil systems (see below).[1]
How to specify and order it
Check the pack before ordering. The IMPA name says 310 ml, but the maker’s current data sheet lists HT 300 as an 85 ml tube and as 280 ml packs: a Green Tube, a plastic bag, a 280 Set and a set of 10 × 280 ml. The same sheet still lists the product under IMPA 815282/83 and says it is processed with a gun for 310 ml cartridges, a compressed-air gun or a dosing system. Ask the supplier which pack it will deliver under 815283, and make sure the ship’s gun takes it.[1]
Use the data sheet figures to plan the job. Temperature resistance is -40 °C to +280 °C, and briefly, for about 2 hours, +300 °C. The skin forms in about 8 minutes, so parts must be joined before then. It cures 2 to 3 mm in the first 24 hours, between +5 °C and +40 °C and 30% to 95% relative humidity. The maximum joint width is 25 mm, it bridges gaps up to 5 mm and takes up to 15% movement. Cured hardness is Shore A 30 ± 5. It cannot be painted.[1]
Mind the chemical resistance. After curing it is listed as resistant to salt water and sea water, water, antifreeze and coolant. It is not resistant to petrol, heating oil and diesel, gear oil, toluene or xylene, and engine oil and hydraulic oil are rated for a limited time only. Do not order it to seal fuel or lube oil joints.[1]
Neighbouring codes are different products, not other sizes: 815282 is the same HT 300 in 85 ml; 815277 and 815278 are FLEX 310 M HT 200; 815284 to 815286 are BLACK SEAL. Order enough for the job but no more: the minimum shelf life given for the Presspack and Green Tube is 18 months, stored unopened at room temperature away from heat and direct sunlight.[1]
Rules and approvals
The data sheet states that the product complies with MIL-A-46106B Group III Type 1 and is building material class B 2 to DIN 4102. It also carries the ISSA code 75.634.20/21. The maker says the figures are not guaranteed characteristics and recommends the user’s own tests.[1]
The maker requires users to observe the physical, safety, toxicological and ecological data in its EC safety data sheets. Ask for the current SDS with the delivery and keep it with the ship’s chemical records.[1]
