AIR FILTER 20X2000MM 813103
IMPA 813103 air filter roll media, 20 mm by 2000 mm, sold by the metre: how to read the size, filter class, cutting to the frame and what to state.
What it is
IMPA 813103 is air filter material sold off the roll: a synthetic filter mat 20 mm by 2000 mm, ordered by the metre (MTR). The ship cuts it to fit the filter frames of air-conditioning and ventilation intakes, and replaces it when it is loaded with dust. Roll media of this kind is sold as a pre-filter for air conditioning.[1]
The two dimensions in the name read as thickness and roll width, as roll media is listed in makers’ tables: for example, a 20 mm thick synthetic roll 2.0 m wide. The two other codes in the group are thinner and narrower: 10 × 1600 mm (813101) and 15 × 1600 mm (813102).[1]
How to specify and order it
Size and thickness do not fix the filter class. In one maker’s range, 20 mm thick synthetic rolls about 2 m wide are listed both as class G2 (ISO 16890 Coarse 40%) and as G4 (Coarse 60%), with different pressure drops and air velocities. If the air-handling unit or the maker’s manual names a class, state it on the order, in EN 779 (G2 to G4) or ISO 16890 (ISO Coarse %) terms, so suppliers do not quote a cheaper grade of the same size.[1]
Quantity is in metres of roll length at the 2000 mm width. Work it out from the frames: the number of frames, the cut size of each, and how many changes are wanted until the next supply. Say whether a full roll is wanted or a cut length. One maker gives a recommended final pressure drop of 150 Pa for its coarse rolls, which is the point to change the media.[1]
If the frames are narrower, the 1600 mm codes may waste less; if the existing media is 10 or 15 mm, a 20 mm mat may not fit the frame. Measure the old filter before choosing between 813101, 813102 and 813103.
