BATTERY TERMINAL - W/WING NUT, & BOLT FOR BATTERY TYPE C-H 792674

Negative (−) battery clamp terminal with wing nut and bolt for battery types C to H: polarity, the JIS size letter and what to order with it.

What it is

IMPA 792674 is a negative (−) battery terminal: the clamp that goes on the battery post and holds the cable end, tightened with a wing nut and bolt instead of a spanner nut. The name ties it to battery types C to H. Its three neighbours are the positive terminal for the same types, 792673, and the positive and negative terminals for type B, 792671 and 792672.

The letters follow the JIS way of naming lead-acid batteries, which the wet-cell batteries in the same IMPA group use (for example 46B24R or 55D23R). In a code like 55B24R, 55 is the performance rank, the letter is the size of the battery’s short side (its width and box height), 24 is the length in about centimetres, and R or L gives the side of the positive terminal. The letters run from A to H in order of size. One maker’s table gives size B as 129 mm wide and 203 mm high, and size H as 278 mm wide and 220 mm high.[1]

How to specify and order it

Order by polarity. The code is the negative (−) clamp only. Count the pairs you need and order 792673 for the positive side.

Order by battery size. The name ties this clamp to battery types C to H; type B batteries have their own terminals (792671, 792672). Read the JIS code on the battery, give the size letter on the order, and measure the post if the code cannot be read.[1]

Check the cable end too. The bolt passes through the cable lug, so the lug hole must take the bolt of the clamp offered. Ask the supplier for the bolt size.

Questions buyers ask

What does "battery type C-H" mean on an IMPA battery terminal?
It refers to the size letter in a JIS battery code such as 55D23R. The letter gives the width and box height of the battery’s short side, rising from A to H. Type B batteries have their own terminals (792671, 792672), so read the code on the battery before ordering.
Can I fit a negative terminal on the positive post?
Order by polarity: 792674 is the negative clamp and 792673 the positive clamp for the same battery types.
