UNIVERSAL COOKING MIXER, PORTABLE 7LTR 220V 174577

Portable 7 litre universal cooking mixer for 220 V galleys: 220 V vs the 100 V code, what the SET should include, and the IEC 60335 safety standard.

What it is

IMPA 174577 is a portable universal cooking mixer with a 7 litre bowl for a 220 V supply, ordered as a SET.

The only other line in its IMPA group is 174576, the same 7 litre mixer for 100 V.

How to specify and order it

Match the voltage to the galley socket. Order 174577 for 220 V and 174576 for 100 V; the two codes differ only in voltage. Give the supply frequency (50 or 60 Hz) and the plug type on board as well, since the code fixes neither.

The code does not list what is in the SET. Ask the supplier to state the bowl, the attachments and the slicing or shredding blades included, so that two offers for “a set” can be compared. If the ship already has a mixer of a given make, give the make and model so blades and bowls stay interchangeable.

Say whether you want a commercial or a household machine. IEC 60335-2-64 covers commercial kitchen machines, mixers among them, used to process food commercially in areas not open to the public. IEC 60335-2-14 covers household kitchen machines, food mixers included, and points commercial machines to 2-64. Ask which of the two the offered mixer is certified to.[1][2]

Rules and approvals

IEC 60335-2-64:2021+AMD1:2024 deals with the safety of electrically operated commercial kitchen machines rated up to 250 V single-phase (phase to neutral) and 480 V for other appliances. Its examples include mixers and food blenders. It does not cover appliances designed only for industrial use or for continuous mass production of food.[1]

IEC 60335-2-14:2025 covers household kitchen machines rated up to 250 V. An appliance intended for professional food processing for commercial consumption is not treated as household only, and the standard lists commercial kitchen machines (IEC 60335-2-64) as outside its scope.[2]

The Code of Safe Working Practices for catering equipment: no one should use it without training or supervision by a competent person; guard dangerous parts and keep guards in place; switch off and isolate a machine before cleaning it or clearing a blockage; use kitchen tools, not fingers, to feed processing machines; do not use electrical equipment with wet hands; and have a competent person inspect all electrical equipment regularly.[3]
