About this section
Pipe and tube fittings are what join the pipes: elbows and bends, tees and crosses, flanges and blanks, unions, sockets, nipples, reducers and caps, in steel, galvanised, stainless, brass and PVC, and to the JIS, DIN or ANSI pattern the ship was built to. The chief engineer raises them with each pipework job.
Standard, size, pressure rating and material are all in the IMPA description; quoting the code avoids the mismatch between patterns that is the usual reason a fitting does not fit.
