Sokhna Port EGSOK

Sokhna Port sits on the western coast of the Gulf of Suez, about 43 km south of Suez city and 120 km from Cairo — described officially as a main industrial and logistics hub at the southern entrance of the Suez Canal, with a 680 m basin entrance and 17 m basin depth.^[1,4]

—DP World operates the first two basins: container terminals with 750 m and 1,350 m quays at 17 m alongside, dry-bulk and general-cargo berths (~20M tonnes/yr capacity) and liquid-bulk jetties handling LPG, ammonia and gas oil; the $520m Basin 2 expansion took DP World’s capacity to 1.75M TEU.^[1,2]

—As of January 2026: Red Sea Container Terminal 1 — Egypt’s first semi-automated container terminal (Hutchison Ports/CMA CGM/COSCO, 30-year concession) — began commercial operations with a 1,200 m quay at 18 m and 1.7M TEU initial capacity.^[3]

—The port anchors the Sokhna–Alexandria logistics corridor linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, with rail into the national network.^[3]
