It is measured from center to center of the parallel wires, as illustrated above. When in doubt about the correct wire size and mesh, the safest and surest way is to send a cut sample of the gauze cloth required and indicate its proposed use in advance. The standard width of stainless steel gauze wire is 1,000 mm and for other materials the width is 910 mm, all supplied in varying lengths.
